U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin Statement on EPA PFAS Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin released the following statement on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Action Plan, which does not set a drinking water standard for dangerous PFOA and PFOS chemicals:

“The EPA should not delay setting an enforceable drinking water standard and this plan falls short of taking the swift action that is needed. These chemicals are a serious health threat right now and the EPA needs to take stronger action to address them and thousands of similar chemicals that are contaminating our groundwater in Wisconsin and flowing into the Great Lakes. I am going to continue my work pressing Acting Administrator Wheeler to establish enforceable drinking water standards and ensure Wisconsin has clean drinking water, whether it comes from public water systems or from private wells.”
