WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ahead of the U.S. Senate’s vote on a War Powers Resolution to end the President’s war in Iran, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) spoke on the Senate floor to make the case that the war needed to end immediately and recounted her travels across the state to hear about the impact of the war on Wisconsin families, manufacturers, small businesses, and farmers. Nearly all Senate Republicans voted against the measure, for the 13th time, continuing to greenlight the war in Iran. Baldwin’s floor speech comes just days after the Pentagon estimated the Iran war has cost American taxpayers more than $45 billion and the average cost of diesel hit the highest recorded average in Wisconsin at more than $6.60/gallon.

For months, Senator Baldwin has been working to end the war in Iran, hold the White House accountable for an illegal war, and ensure servicemembers are getting the treatment and care they need. Baldwin pressed Hegseth on the lack of preparedness that has led to injuries and deaths and the disastrous impacts of the war on Wisconsin families and farmers. In recent weeks, Senator Baldwin traveled Wisconsin to connect with small businesses, farmers, restaurateurs, and working families about how higher costs brought on by this conflict are impacting their bottom lines.
