Baldwin-Backed Bipartisan Proposal to Keep Guns from Terrorists, Make America Safer Wins Majority Support in the Senate

U.S. Senate rejects attempt to defeat bipartisan bill spearheaded by Senator Collins, keeps alive the bipartisan ‘No Fly, No Buy’ legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Baldwin released the following statement after the majority of the U.S. Senate (52-46) voted in support of a bipartisan proposal she has cosponsored to help keep guns from terrorists and make America safer:

“If we work across party lines and find common ground, we can get something done to close the terror gap. The vote today on Senator Collins bipartisan ‘No Fly, No Buy’ legislation, which I have cosponsored, shows that we can advance a commonsense solution. Now we need a real up-or-down vote in the Senate, and I will continue to push for one because doing nothing is not an option.”

The bipartisan legislation was introduced by U.S. Senator Collins (R-ME) and is cosponsored by Senators Baldwin, Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Angus King (I-ME), Mark Kirk (R-IL), Bill Nelson (D-FL), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Mark Warner (D-VA).
