Baldwin Highlights Investments in Climate Smart Agriculture and Support for Manufacturers in Fox Valley and Menomonee Falls

WISCONSIN – Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) visited Brickstead Dairy, a five-generation family-run dairy farm in Greenleaf to highlight the federal investments she helped deliver to allow more Wisconsin farmers, producers, and growers to mitigate the impacts of climate change and grow their businesses. Senator Baldwin also toured Harley-Davidson’s plant in Menomonee Falls to see their electric motorcycle line, LiveWire, and discuss her legislation that supports American electric motorcycle manufacturers and lowers the cost of clean energy-powered bikes for Wisconsinites.

“I voted for the Inflation Reduction Act because it will not only address climate change, but also create economic opportunity for Wisconsinites – and I was so excited to see that in action at Brickstead Dairy today,” said Senator Baldwin. “Wisconsin’s farmers, ranchers, and producers have long been responsible stewards of our farmlands, and I am proud to deliver the resources they need to continue increasing efficiencies with climate smart solutions.”

On Wednesday, Senator Baldwin toured Brickstead Dairy, a five-generation family-run dairy farm that has benefited from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) climate-smart grants programs. The Baldwin-supported Inflation Reduction Act included $19.5 billion to help farmers implement and expand conservation and sustainable agricultural practices. Brickstead Dairy, along with partner organizations, is the recipient of a nearly $5 million USDA Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant to support the production and marketing of climate-smart commodities.

“Harley-Davidson is a great example of how Wisconsin’s strong manufacturing sector and second-to-none skilled workforce sets us up to lead the future clean energy economy,” said Senator Baldwin. “I’m proud to be fighting in Washington to support Wisconsin businesses like Harley and give Wisconsinites more choices to buy more affordable, efficient vehicles made by American companies.”

Senator Baldwin visited Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire plant in Menomonee Falls Wednesday to see the company’s electric motorcycle manufacturing plant. During the tour of the Harley-Davidson facility, Senator Baldwin highlighted her Electric Motorcycle Parity Act, legislation to help motorcycle riders afford American-made, environmentally-friendly motorcycles, strengthen American manufacturing, and create jobs while protecting our environment for future generations. The legislation would include qualifying motorcycles among the vehicles eligible for the clean vehicle tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act.
