Baldwin Statement on Loretta Lynch Confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm the nomination of Loretta Lynch to be the next Attorney General of the United States by a vote of 56-43:

“At a time when America is facing serious terrorist threats, dangerous crime, and an ongoing need to make sure our civil rights laws are strongly enforced, I am very disappointed that Senate Republicans played politics with Loretta Lynch’s nomination and our nation’s safety and security. Loretta Lynch waited for a vote longer than the last seven Attorneys General combined, but after 166 days of having this vote held up by politics she has finally made history and will become our nation’s next Attorney General. Today, I was proud to take a historic vote to confirm Loretta Lynch’s nomination and I believe that Wisconsin and the nation will be well served by her experience, qualifications and continued public service.”
