Senator Baldwin calls on President Obama to release federal funds to help with the rising cost of propane

Yesterday, Senator Baldwin, called on the Obama Administration to release federal funds to help with the rising cost of propane.

“I write today to urge the Department of Health and Human Services to immediately release Wisconsin’s share of the remaining Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds,” she wrote.

In a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Tammy asked that the Obama Administration to immediately release Wisconsin's share of the remaining Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds. She noted the cost of propane has risen from $2.20 a gallon at the beginning of January to more than $6 a gallon in just three weeks due to the recent shortage.

“Once released, the remaining LIHEAP allocation could rapidly be deployed in Wisconsin to aid families who are struggling with the impacts of this shortage.  This extraordinary situation requires immediate action, and I request that the Department of Health and Human Services distribute remaining LIHEAP funds to the families in Wisconsin that urgently need assistance,” she said.
